Jupiter is measured the most influential and prime among the nine planets. It is considered as the teacher of all the Gods.Itacquires highest position and is the most auspicious planet. Usually it is said that if one’s Jupiter is high then the respective person will acquire all wealth and worldly pleasures of life.

Vedic astrology says that Jupiter is the lord of Sagittarius and Pisces sign and Punarwasu, Vishakha, and PurwaBadrapadaNakshatras. Jupiter is an auspicious planet which gives transparency, trustworthiness, truth and contentment. This planet is operative in second, fifth, ninth, tenth, and eleventh houses of a native's horoscope. Out of twelve months in a year it remains rearward for four months. Sun, Moon, Saturn and Mars are considered its pleasant planets while Venus and Mercury are considered its enemies.

According to Astronomy, Jupiter is about twenty nine crores and six lakh miles far from the Sun whereas its distance from earth is thirty eight crores mile. The radius of this planet is around eighty nine miles. Its days are shorter from the days of Earth and Mars because it finishes a rotation in its axis around Sun within nine hours and fifty-five minutes.

It rises again after a month after it has set, after four successive months it becomes rearward and direct after four months. It sets after four months and one week. Jupiter halts for one month in each sign and takes thirteen months to complete the cycle of twelve signs. It is acknowledged that Jupiter has thirty nine moons and in this way it surpassed Saturn.


It is believed in the SkandaPurana that Jupiter is the son of prodigious sage Angira. He did a long and hard worship of lord Shiva forachieving the position of the Tutor of the Gods and a place amongst the other planets. On the forte of his knowledge he delivers the share of the devas from the Yajnas that are achieved. He brings spiritual and true learning to its devotees. He brings contentment and reputation in a person's life.


People who are prejudiced by Jupiter are usually fat and suffer from cough. They have a loud voice, brown eyes and sometimes brown or golden hair. They are spiritual, philosophic, and honest and have a keen interest in science.

It has a full aspect on the fifth, seventh and ninth house. The houses that are inspected by Jupiter profitbenefice results for the native but the house that has Jupiter does not producebenefice results. It becomes very active (Yoga karaka) in Sagittarius and Pisces because the houses it aspects and the house in which it takes position are both helpful. If it's placed in Virgo or Gemini sign it becomes injurious for the person.
